These Galápagos sea lions have a layer of fat around most of their bodies that insulates them from the cold. It doesn’t extend to the heads, though, which is why they’re often seen holding their heads and necks above the ground.
This photo was taken early in the morning, so the white sand is probably a little cold for these two to roll around in just yet.
