These two bald eagles fight in mid-air while a third looks on from the ground. These bald eagles in Alaska’s Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve were fighting over a dead fish which the bird on the left had acquired. The owner of the fish is fighting off a vicious dive bombing attack from the eagle on the right.
These types of spats are common when large quantities of eagles congregate, as the animals are natural scavengers and will often attempt to steal food from one another.
Eagles are exceptionally talented fliers, more than capable of fighting in mid-air. If you ever get a chance to see two eagles swooping around, fighting each other in mid-air, don’t miss it. The display is one of nature’s most impressive feats of coordination.
