The Lightkeeper’s View – Connected to land by a narrow wooden walkway, the Marshall Point Lighthouse Station is a key navigational aid to boats entering Port Clyde harbor. The Marshall Point Lighthouse was featured in the movie “Forrest Gump.”
This photo of the Marshall Point Lighthouse was taken from the keeper’s house. Before lighthouses were automated, a keeper used to live on the grounds. This keeper was responsible for lighting the Fresnel Lens at night or during poor weather. The keeper was responsible for all upkeep and maintenance of the lighthouse and grounds.
