A grizzly bear family feeds off of the mother’s milk. The faces of the three young cubs are covered with their mother’s milk. The grizzly bear family is a tight unit, with the cubs staying close to their mother at all times. A mother grizzly will become incredibly fierce and aggressive if she feels that her cubs are in danger. After a few years, when a mother grizzly is ready to have new cubs, she will drive off her old litter.
When baby bears are breast-feeding, they make a soft purring noise. Some observers have compared the noise to that of a quiet motorboat. In a large grizzly bear family like this one, the bears that are waiting to breastfeed will make loud whining noises to attract the attention of their mother.
