A young bald eagle roosts near Haines, Alaska. In addition to their large stature, adult bald eagles are identified by their snowy white head and tail feathers, but immature eagles are mottled brown and white. The distinct white head and tail of the mature bird isn’t developed until it is between three and four years of age.
