Eagle ascends from rocky beach

A bald eagle takes off from a rocky beach in Alaska during the early winter months.
The American bald eagle is the United States national bird symbol. Bald Eagles are the only eagle unique to North America.
Both male and female adult bald eagles have a blackish-brown back and breast; a white head, neck, and tail; and yellow feet and beak. The birds are also known for their powerful hooked bill and sharp vision.
