A breast feeding Grizzly Bear cub nurses from her mother’s breast in Katmai National Park, Alaska.
Grizzly cubs can be quite demanding when hungry– they will whine loudly to get their mother’s attention, and won’t stop until the mother deigns to feed them.
While breast feeding, baby grizzly bear cubs make one of nature’s most unique noises. The cubs make a nice which has been likened to a loud clicking or purring. Breast feeding bears are common sights in the Alaskan summer, after spring cubs are born during the winter while the mother bears hibernate.
