The Bodie Lighthouse is a beautiful lighthouse whose light can be seen for 18 nautical miles. The Bodie Lighthouse was built in 1872, and still stands today (although it has been renovated several times). The previous lighthouse which had stood on the point was destroyed by Confederate troops to deny Union soldiers a strategic observation point during the Civil War.
A bold black and white color palette denies the Bodie Lighthouse. The lighthouse was restored between 2009 and 2013, and is now open to the public. The keeper’s house has been converted into a museum, and a modern staircase has been installed inside the Bodie Lighthouse itself so that visitors can climb to the top of the tower.
