A mama bear sits patiently while her two young cubs nurse at her breast. Mother bears will keep their cubs nursing for two to three years before weaning them. During this time period, the cubs will also eat solid food.
The two cubs pictured here are spring cubs- newborn this winter- who will be feeding at their mother’s breast for a few more seasons.
The mother bear keeps a wary eye on the photographer while the cubs nursing eat their fill.
