A pair of tired bear cubs are cuddling in a meadow while they wait for their mother to return with food. Since young spring cubs cannot hunt for themselves, their energy is at the whim of their mother. These two cuddling bear cubs have worn themselves out by playing for a few hours. They are now ready to feed at their mother’s breast and then take a good long nap.
After breast feeding, young bear cubs almost always pass out for a good rest. The mother will join them, although she is always keeping an eye out for predators. The maternal instinct is incredibly strong in bears. Momma bears will tear interlopers to pieces if she feels her offspring are threatened.
This pair of bear cubs cuddling also eat fish and berries in addition to the milk of their mother.
