Eagle attack seen here in this closeup action image of two bald eagles fighting. Set against the backdrop of the Chilkat River, these eagles battle over salmon scraps. The name Chilkat actually means “salmon storehouse.” Though bald eagles are incredibly powerful, if they can steal a meal instead of hunt, they will. Eagle wings, talons, and sharp beaks are in full display as they fight.
The talons and beaks are made of keratin, the same as human hair and fingernails. In the wild, these get worn down but continuously repair and regrow. Moments like this are regularly captured during our eagle viewing photography workshops near Haines, Alaska.
