The black-mandibled toucan goes by many names. It’s also called the yellow-throated toucan, and sometimes the chestnut-mandibled toucan (though some naturalists think that’s a subspecies).
These toucans have adapted to a huge range of habitats in Central and South America. Early white explorers thought their haunting cry sounded like a Spanish blessing.
